I think it's fitting that peapody opened this new thread. She bought SO much stuff in the last one. :p Yeesh.

    HEY! :D

    Anyways, my last purchases:

    iPad CCK (no, not cholecystokinin!)

That was pretty funny - and nerdy! Awesome.

Charlie Sheen vs Muammar Gaddafi quiz (http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/quiz/2011/mar/01/muammar-gaddafi-charlie-sheen-quiz)

See if you can determine who said what. I got 7 out of 10 right.

Does Apple's website specs show this?

EDIT. Nope. Still 9.3 mm thin
Apple "overlooked" the fact that there is a slight difference due to the improved antenna.

Oops, that wasn't supposed to be mentioned.

Forget you just read that. :)

Line at Brea Mall is to Macy's, probably about 150-200 people here.

Any idea how fast these lines move? This'll be the first time I've camped out for a product.

Wow, that is pretty crazy. I didn't think there would be long lines like this.

Once the line starts moving, it should move fairly quickly. All hands will be on deck at Apple and hopefully people have figured out which version they're purchasing in line.

I don't buy from either of these any more after being introduced to Gomusicnow.com (or any of the other 25 similar sites). 9 cents per song, or ~$.80-$1.5 per ALBUM. Quality 320 for most newer albums and 220-300 for older. Can't beat it.

It seems that gomusicnow.com is one of many, many successors to allofmp3.com, the first russian website that took advantage of russian laws to sell music very cheaply without paying the rights holders. So if Apple sells a song for $1.29, they pay $0.90 to the record company. No idea what Amazon pays when they sell the same song for $0.69. gomusicnow.com doesn't pay a penny.

Their legality is let's say dubious. What is more dubious is _your_ legality when you download music from their site outside of Russia (within Russia, it seems reasonably legal). Record companies and artists receive exactly the same payment as if you copy music from a friend or download it from some random website - none.

Top it off Mp3 is smaller at the same bit rate
    http://ipod.about.com/od/introductiontoitunes/a/sound_qual_test.htm

I'd say he author of this website is making some stupid mistake here. Files at the same bitrate are the same size. Maybe his "256 kbit mp3" is "variable bitrate up to 256 kbit/sec" and his "256 kbit aac" is "variable bitrate of at least 256 kbit/sec" or some similar stupd mistake, or they have different album art.

    Heres my probably wrong theory:
    Fashion island got them yesterday.
    South Coast got them today.
    Spectrum tomorrow? Maybe =\.

Mystikal: Irvine got some today, but I was the first person turned away, the person in front of me got the last ticket.

I called Mission Viejo today and they said to try again tomorrow. I think they are getting supplies in the afternoon, but holding them until the morning. My local Target (MV) said a week for theirs, but they only had less than 10 on opening day.

I'm going to try Irvine again tomorrow, but EARLIER this time! :) I'm still bummed I missed it by one today.

Hyper-Threading (Intel Core i7 only) a technology that allows two threads to run simultaneously on each core. So a quad-core iMac has eight virtual cores, all of which are recognized by Mac OS X. This enables the processor to deliver faster performance by spreading tasks more evenly across a greater number of cores.

    -.-

Interesting that after last year's "lost phone" debacle we see another "leaked" phone at around the same time as last year. I really thought that wasn't going to be the case anymore with Apple's phones. And considering that the iPhone 4S/5 is being rumored to be released in September, I find the timing far more surprising. I like surprises, though.

Ah. You mean similar as to how Apple purchased NeXT and based OS X on their NeXTSTEP OS?

Give it up. This has been discussed to death already.

    See above.

You really think OS X is just a rip off NeXTSTEP?

As you said its based and a lot of things were shared but it isn't like they said; here's OSX, NeXTSTEP build by Apple.

OSX shares a lot from the opensource community; so does windows;, Android, Symbian, etc etc.

    What's the big deal?

What is that "springing" option with the dock?

Spring-loaded folders in the dock. So you can drag a file onto a folder in the dock and have it spring open - like in the Finder.

Has anybody thought these might all just be preventative filings?
The Dopod application is almost certainly that, or rather a preparation for a challenge. It comes a month after an application for the exact same name with the exact same classifications 9, 38 and 42, filed by an Italian phone firm named Dopod, which is apparently a division of Dopod International from Singapore.

Seems to me like you are trying to say something there
Well, ok then, I will look into it again, just don't hold your breath :p
If I can maybe we could catch back up to team Lithuania, they haven't gotten very far ahead of us, so maybe we could do it, 'course it would help to get some more people folding for us.

I also haven't gotten gpu2 to work on either of my gtx 260's, I think it might be a driver issue because it is a problem for a lot of people in XP and Vista as well

wait, you cant get gpu2 to work in windows?

I did a complete reinstall of folding@home and it is now doing a bigadv wu :)
    Finally!

wu 2683 r12c9g7 looks to be about 27 min per frame.

dang that's fast. on a 2.26 mac pro? it's taking me like just under or right at 36 min on my i7 920 running at 3.5 ghz. hey now, if you could do these on your 920 then you could really put up some points

I tried the MM that came with my last computer, and I thought it sucked. Steve Jobs is brilliant, but also stubborn. He didn't want to make a 2 button mouse, so he found a way to make a mouse that didn't actually have 2 buttons, but could work like it did. I have a Logictech that works amazingly. It's comfortable, and I can do everything really fast and easy. I think most people that do/will buy the MM, do so because it's Apple.

Safari needs to integrate Saft's features natively. Then NO ONE could complain about its functionality.

Oh Apple Mail has a To Do list. And Notes. But the Calendar is a separate app, as is the Address Book. So why not also have a separate To Do and Notes application? Oh, because they're stored as special formatted email messages in Mail.app, that's why. So how about integrating Calendar and Address Book better in Mail. It's a mess.

    Functionality over eye candy...please :)

    FW800 on both sizes.

    200GB HDD (at 4200rpm) available.

Good initial RAM 1GB on lower models, 2GB on high end ones.

Everything else seems pretty much the same.

    802.11n pending firmware upgrade...

Ugly. 4" screen is too big. Keep it at 3" or so.

Luckily, it won't look that ugly, even if it does have a 3.7" screen. I still wont buy it. I'm always a gen behind on iphones because well I just can't afford the new ones.

I will say the market seems to disagree.
It seems to be 4-4.3 in screens is the sweet spot. 4.5 seems to be 2 big but 4-4.3 people seem to like.
