Disastrous. This goes far beyond just having a "weird set of controls" or a slightly different custom UI. This is just UGLY, unreasonable, and totally contrary to all sense of good taste. It worked--barely-- on the iPad because the iPad is meant to evoke "real-world" objects. But this is probably the ugliest app to ever come out of Cupertino, and everyone involved should be ASHAMED.
It's as though they went out of their way to make it that top bar as illegible and ugly as possible. And I'm sure you won't be able to get rid of it, either...

I'm not gonna buy music from Amazon again though, I downloaded 1 song for my Dad once from there. Because iTunes didn't have it, and Amazon emailed me for weeks with spam.
Just change your Amazon account settings. The only emails I get from them are to tell me if an order I placed has shipped.

Of course there is. iOS runs on two currently available Apple smartphone models: 3GS and 4. The iOS that runs on these phones is sufficiently different in feature sets from the iOS that runs on Tablets, media consumption devices, and Apple TVs:
-Larger resolution on tablets
-Communications handled separately - No phone app or visual voicemail on Tablet or iPod Touch
-No installable apps on Apple TV
I think you already understand the differences. You just would like to lump everything together so that it seems that Apple still has dominant marketshare.

Seriously? That's like saying Android devices from different manufacturers can't be lumped together because of different resolutions or skins.

Aside from the whole "personal responsibility" debate, why doesn't Apple just allow cancel/refund of purchases as long as it is done before the download is finished (meaning it's impossible to use)?
Seems like a no brainer to me.

Also Its early and Im not thiinking too clear..but you can go to your ACCOUNT and authorize whichever device you wanna allow to use your purchases. Of course I dont think this will help if you set up a new account for a gift, but you can GIVE apps to others. I apologize if my somnambulism has misread your intent. WOuldnt be the first time.

Charlie Sheen parties too much though. Too much of that stuff can mess you up bad. Just gotta keep it below 3 grams per night and one night per week. It's not fun anymore when you wind up in the hospital.

+1 for TB "Target disk mode"! I am happy they kept FW800 on the newest MBPs though.

No one will know that until they try installing Windows on a VM.
The implication from Paul Thurrott's comments via daveschroeder above is that it isn't a tecnological limitation, but I agree with you that it shouldn't be hard to detect VM or not. I would presume the first place they'd go is for the DRM and thus eliminate lots of what people would like to do by running Windows in a VM on a Mac.

802.11n isn't due for ratification until 2008. There is a "Draft N v 2.0" due out next year that is supposedly close to what 802.11n will be but there's no guarantee anything will work until the final spec is released in 2008.
I think he means that the wireless card in the new MBP may be the same as in the new iMac, which is apparently 802.11n draft compliant

I've been told the keyboard backlighting was a size issue. Doesn't anyone remember that they made it thinner and increased the battery size? It probably doesn't fit. I don't understand why people get so bent out of shape on this. I've had both backlight and non-backlight.

Yeah, "accidentally," sure. :rolleyes: The price and the buttons on the app store are clearly labeled. You don't just "accidentally" purchase this. It's only believable if the kid is still an infant and randomly tap on stuff, but 11 year old? Come on. :rolleyes: Besides, there's an option to restrict the ability to install apps on the OS.

I just found that the person that was beat up was transgender and this was a hate crime. How come this is not all over the news? I guess hate crimes are okay now by black people but if a white person did this it would be the end of the world.
They seemed pretty pissed off at her. I highly doubt they were beating her up like that simply because she's transgender. If they end up getting charged with a hate crime I'll lose a little more faith in humanity.
