But apple have hired the carbon fibre specialist? Why not make it lighter and thinner by using him to work his magic over the iPhone form factor. I'd go for a CF iPhone to be sure. :cool:

Phil Schiller recently that it isn't going to happen. "absolutely not, the R&D would be prohibitive and we�re not going to do it. Our solution is dual boot." (http://www.macworld.com/news/2006/07/07/windowsmac/index.php) At the same time, they are happy to promote Parallels (http://www.apple.com/getamac/windows.html).

apple is notorious for saying one thing and then turning around and doing the exact opposite the video ipod being a perfect example. i'm not saying it will happen, i'm just saying don't put much stock in comments from apple execs regarding future products.

I for one think the Apple experience with iPhone 3GS which is still being sold at retail, will encourage them to privately have iPhone 4 have a 3 year product life.
What was so special about the 3GS's experience for Apple ? The iPhone 3G was sold at retail until mid-2010, just like the 3GS is still sold now in 2011.
This is just their motus operandi, last gen iPhone for 99$ in a 8GB format. If anything, the 3GS followed the same path as the 3G up to now and one would expect a 8 GB iPhone 4 to surface once they ship the iPhone 5.

Obviously, if they are saying you are not allow, that means they can not stop you from doing so. It's a simple warning beacuse if you call them up about a problem in VM mode they will simply tell you it is not support and you will have to pay another $200 to get any support.
Remember once someone sells you something they can not tell you how you can use it. That like you buying a car and in the purchase agreement they tell you your not allow to wreck the car. Grant it, they do not have to warranty it after you wreck it, but if you want to wreck it, that is up to you.

Having worked very closely with the head engineers of AT&T, I do feel sorry for them. As someone stated earlier, that are spending billions to upgrade the network, but all that money will only meet current demand in some areas. The iPhone is such an incredible success that AT&T never had a chance. The same would be said about Verizon had they got the exclusive contract. If you want to lay the blame at anyones feet, it should be Apple. They should have made a CDMA version and split the load between the networks.
That's actually a very intelegent point. I hate AT&T for their price gouging and service but I would bet we would've said the same about Verizon if they got the exclusivity too three years ago.
The blame really is with Apple on this whole mess. Open up the rights to other carriers and give the customers the option between the big 3. At&t was an alienating decision.

How is that different from how Apple "acquired" iOS and OS X ? Yet no one is going to claim Apple didn't build those 2 OSes.
Again, some of you guys need to put the Google hate to rest. This is not the thread for it and to diminish their efforts on Chrome OS and Android is to do the same to OS X since the histories and origins are similar (acquisitions and open source projects).
And I will not stand by anyone who does that to Apple's efforts with OS X.
Google bought Android and with Schmidt on the Apple board hoovering up ideas from the iPhone, Android became what it is today.

Is there anything really innovative there? I don't think so. Yes, MacPro is an example of beautiful engineering, but there's not much innovation in there.
So what are you expecting? The computer industry hasn't been truly innovative since the first ICs were produced. I suppose you could claim the invention of the mouse was relatively innovative, but certainly not the addition of the keyboard - those had been used in typewriters for years! For the rest of it, all it is is binary mathematics - with short and long term storage - this was all stuff mathematicians had a handle on for millenia. Nothing innovative there right? The internet? Not really innovative, people had been connecting PCs together with serial and parallel cables for years before that. The internet did it better, but so what? To be truly innovative, you must come up with something that no one else has ever done, right?
In case you hadn't noticed, pretty much everything in the computer industry had been done before, or can be seen as an adaption of something else. So by your definition, there are no new ideas and therefore no innovation anywhere. Which leads me to ask, what innovative things are you looking for, that you feel you can criticize Apple for not being innovative enough?

I live in toronto, canada, and here the service is great. We've had MMS since day 1 as well as tethering. Its all lightning fast. Basically no dropped calls and issues like that, but we do pay a small premium.

I find the ip4 to be way too heavy and awkward to hold. I like this design, it allows weight to be shaved off and perhaps (!) be more ergonomically friendly.
I agree that the back should be made extra study and NOT in chrome. I see them using the same type of backing as the ipads...
One more thing that the tapered back will enable is ease of use while its on a desk because the viewing angle will be nicer. On the other hand, it would make it more awkward in landscape mode and for playing game because one side would be thicker than the other. Perhaps its easy to get used to? time will tell!
